Renée Grelecki Psychotherapy
What is therapy?
Psychotherapy is a deliberate rebuke of ill-fitting conformity to expectations. It is a mini revolution that asks us to undo that which no longer serves us. It is a pause in the automaticity of daily living.
I want therapy to be accessible, helpful and grounded in the reality that we live our day-to-day lives outside the therapy office. Good therapy extends beyond one hour a week; good therapy informs how we relate to, engage with and move through the real world. Therapy is simply a microcosm with which we can slow down and approach ourselves mindfully.
I believe in re-interpreting "symptoms" as adaptive strategies working on your behalf. I do not believe in pathologizing the manifestations of human coping. Therapy asks: how do I exist? How.
As a therapist, I aim to notice what usually goes unnoticed, to call attention to what’s been ignored and to guide awareness to what needs curiosity. I am interested in you as you as you have been, you as you are right now and you as you decide to be tomorrow. I believe in undoing the rigidity of how we might see ourselves and to find the places we have already outgrown.
I work with individuals to strengthen their sense of choice and meaning in their lives. I believe we can emerge more whole when we get curious about the parts of us that seem inglorious. I do not believe in oversimplifying the human condition into "good" or "bad" because there is more truth in the spectrum. I am interested in how you arrived into the person you are right now. It is never a simple story but it always makes sense; you make sense.
Therapy is a real-time experiment in trying on new ways of being. Where we feel limited, we consider expansion. Where we feel stuck, we imagine motion. Where we repeat patterns, we grow awareness.
In session, we'll work together to get clear on what you want and focus our attention in growing our capacity and ability in getting there. While I tailor my approach to each individual, I often pull from my ongoing training in AEDP -- a relational and somatic-based treatment modality -- to help loosen stuck patterns while working effectively toward change.
Good therapy starts with a good connection.
I offer a complimentary 15-minute phone consultation to see if we're a good match. Long-time therapy go-ers, newbies and skeptics all equally welcome.

I have great admiration for anyone struggling to make meaning of it all. I have special affinity working with adults struggling with the reprecussions of unkind or mistuned childhoods, complex developmental trauma, challenging relationship dynamics, depression and anxiety and other manifestations of being a human.
I currently work remotely, serving individuals in both Massachusetts and California. I am affiliated with the Research Institute Without Walls, Bay Area Asylum Mental Health Project, where I provide pro-bono psychological evaluations for asylum seekers. I received my Master of Arts (M.A.) degree in Integral Counseling Psychology at the California Institute of Integral Studies, my Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in English Literature from the University of San Francisco and pursued graduate studies at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst.
